DMV Spring Showcase: All Senior Team
The DMV Spring Showcase last weekend at Potomac High School brought together some of the best talent from across the Virginia-Maryland area. It featured players ranging from freshman to seniors, and the intensity level was high as they played in front of multiple scouting services and over 15 college coaches in the gym. Here’s some of the standouts from the available seniors.

MVP : Greg “Alden” Parham | 6’4” | Monacan
Parham did what many view as easy, but few can actually do and that is being a distributor in a camp setting. Parham led all players in the Showcase with 5.3 assists per game, and he also scored it well in transition and from behind the arc. He’s longer and more bouncy than most people think, and his high IQ and good feel for the game was on display throughout the event. Whether you need a one or a two, Parham is an available guard that can play both. He picked up an offer from D2 Goldey-Beckley College a day after the event, giving him 12 division two offers now.
Terence Lewis | 6’4” | National Christian Academy
Lewis didn’t get off to the best start he could have, but once the wing got going he was one of the best scorers in the entire camp. His last two games he finished with 24 and 22 points, and he did so efficiently because he didn’t settle like many would in a camp situation. He also rebounded well, getting a lot of his points by simply playing harder and attacking the glass. He picked up an offer from D2 West Virginia Wesleyan after the event.
Ameer Bennett | 6’8” | St. Christopher’s
Coming from Richmond for the Showcase, the All Prep League big man showed all of his versatility, and competed on both ends which impressed almost every college coach in the gym. He was the camp’s leading scorer with 19 points per game, and he finished sixth in FG percentage at 77%. He hit the glass on both ends, finished with both hands and showed his range offensively out to 15 feet. His improvement offensively from just a few years ago also shows that he has room to grow still, and he showed that he’s one of the best available bigs still around.
Ross Young | 6’6” | Sidwell Friends
A high motor, athletic combo forward with range on his jump shot, Young was phenomenal early as he came out with a lot of energy. He hit the offensive glass, pushed the basketball in transition and scored it from all three levels throughout the day. His intensity was seen on the defensive end as well, as he can guard multiple positions and is really good in pick-and-roll situations. He holds an offer from Pepperdine, and impressed a number of D2 coaches at the event.
Ben Stanley | 6’5” | Millwood School
Despite holding three offers, Stanley made the trip to NOVA from Richmond and brought his high motor with him. He finished second in the camp in scoring with 18.3 points per game and fourth in rebounds with 5.3 per game. His frame turned eyes from the beginning of the camp, and his ferocity around the rim was on display all day as he dunked everything in the paint. His ability to run the floor, hit the glass, score in a number of ways and how hard he plays he has a chance to be an immediate impact wherever he goes, and if he isn’t he’s surely going to work to get there.
David Haggler | 6’8” | Middleburg Academy
Haggler was all over the glass at the DMV Showcase, something he’s done well his entire career at Middleburg. He led the camp on the glass with 7 rebounds per game, and was second in blocks with four on the day. His defensive mindset is what makes him a paint presence now, but he’s also a mobile big with good hands and feet, and he scores it well in the paint. Whether he gets something late or chooses to prep, Haggler still has plenty of room to improve in his game.
David Oliveras | 5’11” | Great Mills
One of the better floor generals, Oliveras got it going early and it was fun to watch! He’s unselfish, finishing second in the camp in assists, and he has a chip to him that you have to love from a smaller, lead guard. He pushed tempo well, finished through traffic and kept everyone involved, making many coaches look to see if they needed another point guard this season.
Fahmmi Mamo | 6’5” | National Christian Academy
Mamo was stellar all day, never forcing too much and getting his shots either around the basket or on the offensive glass. His first two games, while everyone was still sharing the ball, he finished with 10 points 5 rebounds and 14 points 7 rebounds, exactly the level coaches will be looking for him to produce at the next level. He has room to grow in his game, and with the right coaching he could be a steal at the next level.
Byron Scriber | 6’4” | Potomac
The first thing that stands out when you watch Scriber is his unbelievable length and athleticism when finishing at the rim. He had some huge finishes in transition, and he played with energy on both ends of the floor. A perfect prep or JUCO kid, Scriber is still pretty raw offensively but he showed flashes of what he’s capable of. He can shoot it from deep, finishing 6-for-9 from three on the day, and while he needs to improve his handle his athleticism running the wing in transition will always be a valuable need.
Dom Joyce | 6’5” | Patrick Henry (Roanoke)
Joyce was solid throughout the event, making the right play and never trying to do too much. He’s versatile as a four man, one that can run the floor, finish out to 15 feet, defend multiple positions and always seems to make a positive impact for his team.
