The Basketball Interview…Macauley Young (2019)
In this interview we talk to Macauley Young, a 6 foot 9 center from Shiloh Christian School in Bismarck, ND. Macauley is ranked seventh in Prep Hoops class of 2019 and averaged 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks for this season. As a sophomore, Young shows that he will have a very promising future for the Skyhawks.
What are some strengths you have in your game that make you the player that you are? Obviously I have some size that helps me. I also always want to be the hardest working guy, and I have some consistent touch around the basket.
What are some of your weaknesses that you would like to work on? My core strength and my endurance while playing. You also can always work on your shot.
Who is the toughest player you played against this season and why? (2016-2017) Dalton Steede. He’s my size and there aren’t many guys my size to play against and he has a ton of strength. His shot blocking ability also makes it tough to score!
What are some of your expectations for AAU ball this summer? My goals for the summer are to get better by playing against great competition and get on colleges radars. I want to really excel this summer in every way possible.
Who is your favorite NBA player and why? Tyus Jones, I met him at the Minnesota Suns Jam Fest. He’s a nice guy. He is a huge inspiration because he won the NCAA championship and is from Apple Valley, Minnesota. That really puts it in perspective. I’m only a state away.
Prep Hoops Evaluation: Macauley Young is a very young and consistent post for Shiloh Christian. He has a bright future ahead in both AAU and High School basketball. Expect to see more of Macauley in the next two years. We are excited to see what he has in store.
