St. Thomas Aquinas is in the coverage area for the newspaper I work for and I was hoping they might give De La Salle a run for their money. It became pretty clear pretty early that wasn’t going to be the case and I took off for Ponchatoula and Northshore (video) after DLS took a 49-19 lead into halftime.
I haven’t covered the Cavs for a couple of years now but it didn’t take long to remember how fast their high-octane attack really is. They get up shots in a hurry and most of them found the bottom of the net on Monday as four different players combined to make 8 3-pointers in the first 16 minutes.
2018 G Noble Scott led the way behind the arc with 4 triples for 12 points and 2019 G Rodney Munson made his presence felt inside and outside the 3-point line putting up 17 points with two treys.
De La Salle (26-4) went on to win the game 84-49 and beat Lutcher 94-68 Tuesday on the road. The Cavs will wrap up their regular season schedule tonight at home against Karr at 7 p.m. and are in line to snag a top 3 seed in Division II.
