Carmel won in overtime 70-68 on a buzzer beating three by Sterling Brown on Senior night after Warren Central came back from a 17 point deficit.
Leading scorers: Warren Central: Dean Tate 20, Trequan Spivey 13, Allante Harper 12. Carmel: Sterling Brown 17, PJ Baron 17, John Michael-Mulloy 16.
Leading rebounders: Warren Central: David Bell 6, Allante Harper 6. Carmel: PJ Baron 15, John Michael-Mulloy 10.
MVP: PJ Baron (Carmel)
Baron set the tone early by getting a ton of offensive rebound put backs. He was perfect in the first half with 12 points on 5-of-5 from the floor and also added in nine rebounds in the first. Baron kept going in the second half adding five more points as well as eight more rebounds. He was a force on the boards and really helped push Carmel out to their early lead.
Best offensive performance: Dean Tate (Warren Central)
Tate really kept Warren Central in the game. He was 5-of-7 from behind the arc and gave the lead to Warren twice in overtime. Finished the game with 20 points and was easily the best player for Warren in the game. Tate had easily the best game of any player on his team.
Best defensive performance: David Bell (Warren Central)
Bell was really solid on defense guarding Sterling Brown. He had three blocks and pulled down six defensive rebounds. Bell will play high major football and you could really see how athliric he is tonight in this one.

Best underclassman: John Michael-Mulloy (Carmel)
Mulloy was clutch in this one draining 11-of-13 free throws at the line and grabbing 10 rebounds. He played much better on defense in this game than I’ve seen this year so far. He finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Mulloy is a really good sophomore post player for Carmel and gave Warren Central a lot of pressure.
Best under-the-radar performance: Luke Heady (Carmel)
Heady played really solid on both ends of the floor. He scored seven points and added in a few assists and steals. Heady also grabbed a couple rebounds and one biggest offensive board. He was a guy for Carmel than played his role really well despite some early foul trouble.
Best off the bench performance: Dean Tate (Warren Central)
Tate led all scorers in the game with 20 points and hit a few huge shots down the stretch. He really gave Warren the spark they needed to close the gap.
Best player who didn’t play well: Mack Smith (Warren Central)
Smith didn’t play well in this one and fouled out with seven minutes to play in regulation. He was 1-of-5 from the field for six point as he went 4-of-4 from the line. He really struggled to get anything going from the floor.
Best rebounder: PJ Baron (Carmel)
The 6’4 senior forward pulled in 15 rebounds and really destroyed on the boards. He had his way inside tonight scoring a bunch as well off of offensive rebounds.
Best takeaway: Who will win 4A?
Both of these teams are solid, but with Carmel winning there really isn’t a there a known top team in the state since everyone has been beating up on each other. It may come down to who has the easier road to regionals or semi-state.
