SD Player of The Week (Feb. 6- Feb. 11)

It was a busy week for SD high school basketball.  With make-up games on the slate many teams played 3-4 games throughout the week.  Here’s the outstanding performances.  Poll closes Friday, February 17th at 11:59pm.


Seth Friesz– Chamberlain

It was a busy week for Friesz and the Cubs playing four games finishing 3-1.  Friesz put up 85 points over the week with games of 23 points against Madison, and 29 points including 10-10 from the line in a win against Crow Creek.  Friesz also was a rebound short of a double-double as he had 9 rebounds and 17 points at Wagner.  Friesz helped the Cubs knock off Langord in the DWU Culver’s Classic to end the week.


Devin Rihanek– MVP

Collecting 3 wins during the week Rihanek posted games of 13 points in a big win at Dell Rapids,  Rihanek followed up with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds, and scored 22 points with 7 rebounds in a win against Pine Ridge.


Robert Rosenquist– Dakota Valley

In a battle tested week for the Panthers Rosenquist helped the team to a 2-1 record.  He scored 24 points in a close loss against Vermillion.  On back to back nights Rosenquist posted double-doubles in wins against Dell Rapids (17 points, 13 rebounds) and Little Wound (23 points, 11 assists).


Jayd VanDerWerff– Gregory

Helping Gregory pick up three big wins through the week VanDerWerff had his hand in every game.  He scored 26 points against Avon.  Following that win he was a rebound shy of a double-double scoring 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals.  In the final game of the week he finished with 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
