Trotwood-Madison senior guard Torrey Patton (2017) has had an incredible season for the Rams. Not only has Trotwood been ranked #1 in Division II for most of the season, but Torrey has been one of the best players in the division as well. He has some college interest currently, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a few more schools show interest soon.
One of Torrey’s best skills is his leadership. He said “I always know how to keep my teammates’ heads in the game and how to keep them involved”. Part of this leadership comes from Torrey being a 3 year starter for the Rams. Not only does Torrey show tremendous leadership, but he scores… a lot. He averaged 20.6 points per game this season. His season high was 36 points against national powerhouse Prolific Prep (CA). Torrey gets his points all over the court. He can beat his man one on one, shoot the three ball, post up his man, etc. Standing at 6’3, Torrey is tall for a guard giving him advantage offensively. Not only does Torrey score, but he rebounds the ball averaging 9.1 per game. He also led the GWOC in steals and assists. Torrey wants to improve his “shot selection and increase my field goal percentage”.
I asked Torrey if he felt any pressure to be a go-to-guy for Trotwood because he leads the Rams in so many categories. He told me no because “I know if I play my game every single night I will get the job done”. Some of Trotwood’s best games this year were when Torrey played his best games. Some of these wins included Dunbar, Springfield, and Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary.
Torrey is currently receiving interest from Urbana University, Lourdes, Lincoln Memorial, and Saint Francis among others. As good as Torrey has played this season, I would not be surprised if he receives more offers in the coming weeks and even includes a few Division I offers too.
