Demers was being courted by many other area D3s, but he said Buena Vista just felt right.
“It just felt really comfortable whenever I was on the campus. I was there a few times, it’s my hometown, I’ve been there all my life and it just felt right,” said Demers.
“And the basketball team: everybody has a little bit of a part in it, and the coaches do a good job of getting everyone involved.”

Demers added: “I liked other the schools; Briar Cliff has a great team and all that, and Northwestern was fun. But it just didn’t feel right like BV did.”
“I’m excited to get in there right away and get to working on my game for the upcoming season.”
A do-it-all wing for the Panthers, Demers says he worked this season on mastering his ability to get to the hoop and handle the rock.
He averaged 25.4 points, 5.3 assists, 3.8 steals and 8.0 rebounds per game during his season season.
“I really worked on my driving ability and ball-handling, and I’ve been more aggressive with that,” he said. “And I’ve been working on my outside shot a lot.”
With his senior season now complete, Demers reflected on how he thought he played this season.
“I think I played like I should have. And sometimes I didn’t shoot the ball enough, sometimes I shot it too much,” he said. “But I feel like I had a really fun career, and I had a lot of fun playing in high school. And I’m excited to see what the future holds.”
