Jalen Paul is the point guard for Churubusco and impacts the game in many different ways. He is an improving facilitator and provides a scoring punch that you wouldn’t think he can bring standing at just 5’9.
Paul has a few offers from different schools and has visited all of them. A few schools that really want to get Paul to play for them are Anderson, Adrian, Marietta, Michigan Dearborn, Ohio Northern, Saint Francis, Trine, and Wabash.
After transferring from FW Canterbury to Churubusco to play for his dad who is now the head coach at Churubusco, Paul’s play on the court has really taken off. This summer running with Spiece Indy Heat 2017 Red really helped Paul and he has now found another gear.
“I think the speed of my game has been my biggest improvement,” Paul said. “I’m really getting up and down the floor quickly and that is helping the team set the quick tempo that we want to play with.”
Many of the coaches that have came and watched Paul have a few certain things that they really enjoy about his game. Paul has many qualities of a combo guard because of his scoring but he leads his team so well that some coaches won’t want to take him off the ball at the next level.
“Most coaches have said they like the way I can control the tempo and run the show, or the way I can score when needed but also be the floor general if one of my teammates are having a good day,” Paul said.
Churubusco is currently sitting at 8-7 on the season and despite starting the season 0-3 they have really pulled together and started to make a run in the middle of the season. They are on a two game losing streak now but with an easy schedule upcoming they should gain some momentum heading into March.
“We want to make a serious run come postseason and try to win the first Sectional and more in Churubusco’s history,” Paul said
Paul has a lot of options at this point and he is looking for somewhere he can go that will set him up for the future.
“I want a place that obviously has the academics to set me up for the future,” Paul said. “Somewhere that is serious about winning a championship, but also somewhere I can enjoy myself for four years.”
