Game 1: Greencastle 56, North Putnam 51
Game 2: Cloverdale 65, South Putnam 46
Leading scorers: Colin York (Greencastle) 30, Cooper Neese (Cloverdale) 26, Allen Plunkett (South Putnam) 25, Jalen Moore (Cloverdale) 16, Preston Porter (North Putnam) 16.
Leading rebounders: Cooper Neese (Cloverdale) 11, Allen Plunkett (South Putnam) 10, Gavin Bollman (Greencastle) 10, Elliot Gross (North Putnam) 5.
MVP: Cooper Neese (Cloverdale)
Cooper was solid in this game, as he always is. He hit some deep threes and tried to throw it down on a kid but he was fouled. He crashed the boards hard and did everything he needed to do. It was another solid game and he moved to tenth place on the all time scoring list for Indiana high school basketball.
Best offensive performance: Colin York (Greencastle)
York had 30 points on just 14 shots in the game and he hit five three-pointers. He was being guarded really tough and didn’t have much room to get off shots. He exploded in the second half for 20 points and really led his team to the win.
Best defensive performance: Duke Duff (North Putnam)
Duff had two blocks and four steals and guarded York for most of the night. The played solid and York didn’t get going until Duff was switched off of him. Duff is a two-sport athlete and really played well since he’s so long and lanky.
Best underclassman: Allen Plunkett (South Putnam)
Plunkett scored 25 points and grabbed 10 boards. He is a 6’5 wing who can score at all three levels and can slash through the lane and finish. He’s a great rebounder from the wing and will really transform into a good player down the line. He’s a quarterback for the football team and is very athletic.
Best under-the-radar performance: Preston Porter (North Putnam)
Porter kept North Putnam in the game with his shooting. He made a few big threes down the stretch and made one late to pull within one. Porter can shoot the ball and he made a few in a row. The small shooting guard can keep his team in it because he doesn’t need much to get his shot off.
Best guy off the bench: Parker Watts (Cloverdale)
Watts came off the bench and played quite a bit. He didn’t turn the ball over at all in the game and he scored six points and didn’t miss a shot. He grabbed a few rebounds and had an assist as well.
Best rebounder: Gavin Bollman (Greencastle)
Bollman is a strong sophomore who has great hands and gobbles up everything that bounces off the rim his way. He can put it back up on the offensive end once he gets the board and has a high motor. The 6’5 sophomore still has room to grow and can transform into a really good player.
Best shooter: Cooper Neese (Cloverdale)
Neese is one of the best shooters in the state and he showed it tonight. He scored 26 points and did it all really efficiently.
Best shot:
Cooper Neese moves into tenth all time on the Indiana high school scoring list with this shot.
