The 6-foot-2 guard is averaging 11.8 points this season for the Wolverines, and though he was getting some interest from college hoops programs, he’s committed to play running back at Iowa Central.
“I thought it would be football the whole time, and there were some schools that were showing interest in me for basketball, but I just didn’t get any offers,” said Bolden.
He says the University of Jamestown, Central College and Iowa Central Community College had been showing interest for basketball, but he’s always had football on his mind.
Bolden was one of the best two-way players for the Wolverines football team last fall.
“Just growing up football has always been my thing,” he said. “I love basketball too, but I just always wanted to play at the next level for football.”
But still, there is a postseason to play with a Wolverines basketball squad that has a chance to make some noise.
“We’ve made a lot of improvements, and this is the first year in a while we’ve had a winning season (11-8). So it’s been great so far this season with the teammate I have,” said Bolden.
“Right now we’re focusing on just one game at a time, just hoping that we can make it down to state this year. And we need anyone and everyone to just step up to the plate and help us get that done.”
