And this spring and summer, he’ll continue to hone his skills on the hardwood. It’ll be his first time playing grassroots ball in several years.
Davidson will follow in the footsteps of 2017 Pocahontas forward Austin Roetman, and play with Coach Lefty Moore and All-Iowa Attack in between playing baseball with the Indians.
“Once you get to a certain age recruitment picks up, and 16 is a big age for recruitment. So I thought All-Iowa Attack would be the best decision for me from that recruitment standpoint,” said Davidson, who has seen some interest come his way so far.
“Briar Cliff has been mailing me letters, and I’ve also gotten some stuff from William Penn.”
With some decent height and playmaking ability, Davidson could see his stock rise plenty this spring on the grassroots circuit.
“I’m usually a guard that likes to drive and make others better around me,” he said. “And besides that I’m a 3-point shooter, and I like to get people involved by assisting, and I also like to rebound.”
He was second-fiddle this season for the Indians, behind Iowa’s 25th-ranked 2017 Roetman.
“My role was to get Austin (Roetman) the ball, primarily,” said Davidson. “And my role was just to assist and score, because my coach said I was the team’s second option.”
After a strong sophomore campaign, and with the Indians’ season now done, Davidson is excited to get into the swing of his 16U grassroots campaign.
“My plans this summer and spring is to play with All Iowa Attack and Coach Lefty (Moore). I’ve known him since I was a third-grader, just from going to his camps and what not,” he said.
“All Iowa Attack has this thing going with the baseball players, so I thought it would be a good idea to give it a try for me.”
Also a standout on the diamond, Davidson mentioned that he does not have a preference right now between baseball and basketball.
“I love basketball and baseball, and right now I couldn’t say which lone I like better,” said Davidson. “I’ll probably have to make a decision later in this summer, to see what I want to focus on during my junior and senior years.”
