This summer he’ll play on the 17U circuit, and though he’s unsure what program he’ll be with, he’s determined to prove he’s one of the better point guards in Washington.
“No, not really nothing yet for recruitment. My sophomore season I got letters from Oregon State and Seattle U, but other than that, nothing,” said Linton.
“I feel like I’m one of the most slept on guards in 2018. I just hope my recruitment picks up, and all of these coaches stop sleeping on me and I get on their radar.”
A floor-general who takes pride in being a two-way player, Linton defined his playing style in detail to PHWA.
“I feel like as a point guard I’m a really good scorer, I just know how to put the ball in the hoop. And I take what the defense gives me, and being a scorer I know how to create and get my teammates involved,” said Linton.
“I can score the ball in a variety of ways, and knock down shots, and make the other team guard me. And then I can penetrate and get my teammates involved from there. And also, I like to guard the other team’s best ball-handler, and make is very uncomfortable for them.”
As his junior season with the Abes winds down, he reflected on what his role has been with the team.
“Specifically, they just want me to be aggressive and just be as much help as I can be defensively and offensively,” said Linton, Washington’s 117th-ranked 2018. “My biggest role on the team is just to be aggressive, and make the defense be on their heels at all times.”
