As the final game before the two teams enter the playoffs it was a telling sign that the Bombers are ready to make the state tournament, compete, and go after a championship. Booker T. Washington left the game scratching their heads wondering what has to change for them to have success against elite teams.
MVP: Keyshawn Embery 2018 Midwest City Combo Guard
Embery dominated on Friday night showing off his excellent skill set. He was not just a scorer, but also facilitated to get his teammates open looks. It was yet another 25+ point performance for Embery on Friday night as the Bombers coasted to victory.
Best Rebounder: Jalen Redmond 2018 Midwest City Forward
Redmond was already strong, but it looks like he has gotten even stronger over offseason football workouts. He is a force in the paint that no one in the state can match the strength of inside. Redmond is undersized when it comes to height. But when it comes to physicality, toughness and heart Redmond dominates. He also did a great job scoring on Friday night for the Bombers.
Best Shooter: Derrick Walter Jr. 2018 Midwest City Wing
Derrick Walter Jr. is the best player in Oklahoma that Division I programs do not know yet! This kid shoots the cover off the basketball. At a legit 6’5 trending towards 6’6, Walter has a very smooth looking jumper. He should garner Division I looks this summer. One area he has added to his game is the drive to the bucket. Walter has the size, jump shot and length many schools are looking for on the Wing.
Newcomer: Bryce Thompson 2020 Booker T. Washington Guard
Thompson is a legit 6’3 as a freshman at Booker T. He entered the starting lineup for the Hornets midway through the season and has flourished. Throughout the season on a very talented Booker T. Washington team, Thompson has been the second leading scorer. He is a sharp shooter from the outside. Booker T. Washington used him as a spot up sniper on Friday night. Thompson is a sure fire Division I talent if he continues to work the sky is the limit for his game.
Out with Injury: Josh Rivers 2018 Midwest City Point Guard
Rivers is a player who’s stock is really rising in the 2018 Oklahoma class. Unfortunately, the injury bug bit Rivers again on Friday night as he left the game early with an ankle injury. The Bombers still coasted to victory without their rising Point Guard. However, the ankle of Rivers will be important to keep an eye on as Midwest City enters the playoffs.
