The Raiders came out of the gates firing on all cylinders – and did that throughout the contest, never allowing the Spartans to get into a rhythm.
Thanks to a stellar performance from Trequon Patterson, Warren East knocked off South Warren by a score of 67-48 to advance to Tuesday’s semifinal matchup against top-seeded Bowling Green.
- Most Valuable Player: Trequon Patterson, Warren East — The lethal scorer was the Raiders’ main leader on Monday. The senior guard scored 25 points to carry East to a season-extending victory. It took Patterson a little while to get into a rhythm, but once he did, he took control of the affair and carried the Raiders all throughout the night.
- Best Offensive Performance: Trequon Patterson, Warren East — Patterson put on an impressive offensive performance on Monday night. Patterson is physically gifted and was virtually unstoppable knocking down big-time shots on Monday. He scored 25 points and helped his Raiders’ club lead 31-16 at halftime over South Warren. Patterson’s scoring came in a variety of ways, including layups, free throws, mid-range pull-up jumpers and three-pointers.
- Best Defensive Performance: Patrick Satterfield, Warren East — Satterfield made his defensive presence felt all night long. The flashy guard played tenacious defense and made many crucial steals. He also scored 10 points to be one of the Raiders’ leading scorers.
- Best Rebounder: Jaxson Smith, South Warren — Smith grabbed 10 rebounds in the game. He made a handful of crucial rebounds Monday that set up scoring opportunities on the opposite end of the court, as well as offensive boards that gave his team second chances.
- Best Coaching Decision/Strategy: Combs‘ playcalling, Warren East — The best coaching decision or strategy of the game was Coach Brandon Combs’ playcalling all throughout the game. From the time the ball was thrown up to the final buzzer, Combs used his jam-packed basketball mind and guided the Raiders to a postseason win.
