With the playoffs starting on Wednesday the 23rd, here is the final top 10 of the season for the Greater Cincinnati area.
- Moeller (22-0, 6-0), Previous Rank: 1 – Coach Kremer’s squad wrapped an undefeated regular season with an 18-point victory over rival Elder on Friday. Ranked 16th in the nation by Max Preps, the Crusaders do not play there next game until March 1st.
Upcoming Schedule: Plays winner of Little Miami/Harrison March 1st, 6:00pm @ Hamilton High School
- Summit Country Day (22-0, 13-0), Previous Rank: 2 – The Silver Knights wrapped up an undefeated regular season with a 38 point victory over Seven Hills on Friday night. Currently ranked 3rd in the latest AP D-III polls, Summit is looked at as one of the favorites to cut down the nets in state finals weekend in Columbus.
Upcoming Schedule: Plays winner of Ripley-Union/Blanchester March 1st, 6:00pm @ Western Brown High School
- Oak Hills (19-3, 15-1), Previous Rank: 3 – The Highlanders won the Greater Miami Conference outright with a 43-25 victory over Fairfield Friday. One of the better defensive teams in the state, Coach Mike Price team allowed over 50 points only 3 times all season.
Upcoming Schedule: 2/25 vs. Talawanda, 6:30pm @ Fairfield High School
- La Salle (19-3, 4-2), Previous Rank: 4 – La Salle finishes the regular season on a 4-game winning streak with their last loss coming February 3rd against Moeller. A potential matchup against a dangerous Princeton team could await Coach Fleming team after playing the first two rounds against teams the Lancers should beat easily, regardless of matchup.
Upcoming Schedule: 2/23 vs. Winton Woods, 6:00pm @ Hamilton High School
- Hughes (18-3, 10-0), Previous Rank: 5 – Big Red’s winning ways continue with a win streak that is now at 16 games, the third longest win streak in Cincinnati. Coach Bryan Wyant squad is ranked 15th in the latest D-II state polls and will be a very tough outcome tournament time.
Upcoming Schedule: 2/24 vs. Western Brown, 8:00pm @ Mason Arena
- Mason (18-2, 14-2), Previous Rank: 6 – Another team that will be very dangerous come tournament. Winners of 5 in a row and 13 of their last 14 games, the Comets have a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
Upcoming Schedule: Plays winner of St. Xavier/Lakota West March 1st, 8:00pm @ Lakota West High School
- Wyoming (21-1, 13-1), Previous Rank: 7 – What a stellar season it has been for Tim Edmonds team. The Cowboys the Cincinnati Hills League title, the fourth straight year they have won at least a share of the title. Currently ranked 6th in the D-II polls in Ohio, Wyoming has arguably the best starting five in Southwest Ohio.
Upcoming Schedule: 2/24 vs. Norwood, 6:30pm @ Mason Arena
- Roger Bacon (18-4, 8-2), Previous Rank: 8 – With Bacon back to full strength, they should be one of the favorites to cut down the nets in Columbus championship weekend. The Spartans are ranked 10th in the latest AP D-III poll.
Upcoming Schedule: 2/25 vs. Riverview East Academy, 4:00pm @ Princeton High School
- Taft (16-4, 7-2), Previous Rank: 9 – The health of Chris’seon Stringer will be key for the Senators as they look to make a push for Columbus. A third matchup with conference rival Hughes could await Taft in the district finals.
Upcoming Schedule: 2/25 vs. Taylor, 6:30pm @ Mason Arena
- Walnut Hills (15-6, 12-2), Previous Rank: 10 – The Eagles come into the post season riding a 5 game winning streak and winners of 6 of their last 8. Senior forward Rob Brown will be key to Walnuts success come tournament time as he is their most experienced post player.
