Jesse Van Wyk (Lynnville-Sully)
Lynnville-Sully is headed to the State Tournament for the first time since 2011, and it was a solid three-game long effort from Van Wyk that helped get them there. The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 12.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.7 blocks during that stretch, and saved his best for the substate final against Martensdale-St. Marys; 16 points (6-10 FGs), 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks.
David Kacmarynski (Pella Christian)
This football standout is not only a star on the gridiron, but has been enjoying great success on the hardwood this season too. Last week in two Eagles' two wins the 6-foot-4 post netted 17 points, and nabbed 9.5 rebounds per game. And he was getting it done defensively too, swiping 7 steals while helping propel his squad to yet another State Tournament.
Ryan Schmitt (Van Meter)
One part of the the twin towers for Van Meter (6'8 Grant Johnson is the other), Schmitt has been instrumental in the Bulldogs' post season march. Last week his squad qualified for the State Tournament for the first time since 1936, Schmitt -- a 6-foot-8 post -- averaged 11.5 points, 8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2 blocks per game.
Sam Snyder (Forest City)
The Indians are headed to the State Tournament, and 6-foot-4 forward Sam Snyder certainly played a large role in getting them there. Forest City won twice last week behind two strong performances from the junior team leader. Snyder filled up the stat-sheet, averaging 15.5 points, 5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks per game.
Keegan Savary (Sergeant Bluff-Luton)
Savary has been central to the Warriors' success for three years now, and he erupted last week in two district wins. He triple-doubled in a district final win over Spirit Lake, scoring 11 points, nabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists. The senior guard was a stat-stuffer in a district semifinal win over Algona too, scoring 8 points to go along with 12 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals.
