Bolingbrook 86– Lincoln-Way West 51
In class 4A regional playoff action Bolingbrook cruised to an easy victory over Lincoln-Way West 86-51. They will move on to face Lemont Friday. Bolingbrook’s pressure defense led to points off turnovers for the Raiders who got out to a hot start and never looked back. Here are the Fab Five performances from the game.
MVP: Kaleb Thornton- Bolingbrook (2018)
The Junior guard was electric out in the open floor for Bolingbrook. He was super tough off the dribble and is one of the shiftiest guards I’ve seen. Did a good job getting to the rim, and finishing. He also showed the ability to dish it out. Had three alley-oop passes to Nebraska commit Nana Akenten. Defensively he had 3+ steals and was a major part of Bolingbrook’s pressure defensive. He finished with 14 points 6 assist and 3+ steals.
Offensive Performance: Marco Pettinato – Lincoln-Way West (2017)
Marco Pettinato was the bright spot for Lincoln-Way West in his final game for LWW. Pettinato did his best to keep them in it. Scoring a game high 19 points. Pettinato was strong to the rim, and also showed a nice touch from deep knocking down some three’s. Pettinato also was good finding his teammates for some nice drive and dish assists.
Defensive Performance: Brandon Lawani- Bolingbrook (2017)
Lawani stepped up off the bench for Bolingbrook. He was a presence in the post immediately when he checked in, had two straight baskets on some nice post moves. At 6’7 he used his size advantage to get several offensive rebounds to keep possessions alive. On the other end, he helped limit second chance points for LWW by controlling the glass.
Under the Radar Performance: Bolingbrook Bench Play
Bolingbrook had strong play from the bench which will be pivotal in making a run for state. These three stood out:
Isaiah Clemons – (2018)- 10 points including nice a two-handed breakaway dunk for the 5’9 junior. Strong with the ball
Brandon Lawani-(2017)- 10 points and 6 rebounds provided inside presence. Showed nice touch around the rim
Demari Grant-(2019) – The sophomore finished with 7 points was active on defense. Hit a deep three at the buzzer at end of 3rd Quarter.
Best Intangibles: –Malik Binns Bolingbrook (2017)
Binns finished with 18 points 8 rebounds was very active on defense and made some nice passes out of the double team. All around complete game, he didn’t make many mistakes and was efficient on offense.
