With the postseason upon us and the regular season winding down, it is time to start awarding all-conference honors. I will be honoring several all-conference teams in the Dayton area. Today I am honoring my 1st team all-conference for the SWBL Buckeye division. (Note: The SWBL is split into two divisions: Southwestern and Buckeye. This article will cover one of the divisions and a future article will cover the other).
Noah Price (Waynesville)- 17.2 PPG, 4.8 AST, 3.3 STL, 33.7% 3PT
Noah was an extremely talented guard for the Spartans and arguably one of the best players this year in the SWBL. As one of their seniors, Noah helped lead the Spartans in several categories, including scoring, assists, and steals. He was second in the league in both scoring and assists, and led the league in steals. Look for Noah to have another big game or two this postseason.
Adam Goodpastor (Carlisle)- 15.6 PPG, 2.9 AST, 3.8 REB, 1.5 STL
Adam was a high scoring guard for the Carlisle Indians. Finishing in the top 5 in scoring in the league this year, Adam used his shooting touch plus his impressive rebounding skills to help lead the Indians to a co-division championship. Adam will be looked to for leadership and scoring this postseason.
Grant Whisman (Madison)- 17.7 PPG, 7.5 REB, 1.2 AST, 1.3 BLK
Grant is the future of the SWBL. Leading the league this year in scoring, Grant scored a season high 30 points against Dohn High School. He possesses a nice three point touch for a forward and also shows offensive skills in the post. The most impressive part of Grant’s game, is the fact he is only a freshman and he is leading the league in scoring. I expect him to continue to improve and lead the league in more categories as he continues his basketball career.
Justin Flor (Carlisle)- 15.2 PPG, 9.6 REB, 5.0 BLK, 1.1 AST
Although Carlisle loses Adam Goodpastor to graduation, Indians fans shouldn’t be nervous yet because they still have Justin Flor on their team. Justin was a huge part of Carlisle’s success this season. He showed he is a top defender as he led the league in blocks and third in rebounds. Offensively, Justin finished fifth in the league in scoring. In half of his games this season, Justin recorded a double-double. I expect Justin and Grant Whisman to battle it out next year to decide who the best in the league is.
Devin Worley (Dixie)- 14.9 PPG, 7.1 REB, 3.8 AST, 1.5 STL
Devin was the team leader in scoring, rebounds, and assists for the Greyhounds this season. Dixie may have had a rough season this year, but having Devin back next season will give their fans hope for improvement. Devin is a strong shooter and has potential to be the best shooter in the league. He is a name to watch as he continues his playing career.
