With the postseason upon us and the regular season winding down, it is time to start awarding all-conference honors. I will be honoring several all-conference teams in the Dayton area. Today I am honoring my 1st team all-conference for the Midwest Athletic Conference.
Justin Ahrens (Versailles)- 23.0 PPG, 8.6 REB, 3.6 AST, 1.5 BLK, 41.1% 3PT
Justin was the high scoring star of the Tigers. The lefty led the conference in points and rebounds and ranked second in assists. Justin is an inside-out forward capable of beating his opponents from beyond the arc as well as in the post. The junior has verbally commited to Ohio State.
Micaiah Cox (Fort Recovery)- 14.7 PPG, 8.2 REB, 1.3 BLK, 1.7 STL
Micaiah was an low post star for the Indians this season. Averaging nearly a double-double, Micaiah is arguably the second best player in the conference behind Justin Ahrens. Micaiah also ranked in the top 5 in both blocks and steals, making him one of the better defenders in the conference. Expect a big game or two from Micaiah this postseason.
Tim Kreeger (Delphos St. John’s)- 18.7 PPG, 6.4 REB, 58.8% FG, 1.9 BLK
Tim finished in the top 5 in several categories this season. He was the second best scorer behind Ahrens and the second best shot blocker. Tim has several small school college offers to play next season and is currently uncommitted. St. John’s will try and replace Tim next season but until then, he will try and help the Blue Jays make a run during this postseason.
Tyler Mescher (Marion Local)- 15.9 PPG, 7.1 REB, 55.3% FG
Tyler is a two sport athlete for the Flyers. When he is not helping Marion Local on the football field, he is leading them on the basketball court. He ranked third in the conference in scoring and seventh in rebounds. As a junior, Tyler will be looked upon to lead the Flyers next season.
Jarod Schulze (Minster)- 101 REB, 53.3% FG, 39 BLK
Jarod is a big time defender for the Tigers. He led the conference in blocks for the season and ranked tenth in rebounds. Only a sophomore, I expect Jarod to improve these numbers and become an even better player. He will definitely be a name to watch over the next two seaso
