Another topic of conversation would be the outstanding coaches who have coached in the conference over the years and presently as well. But what often gets overlooked is the outstanding players who have and do play in the conference. This is a conference that has produced numerous collegiate players, with many playing high, mid and low major Division I. And this year is no different as Prep Hoops presents the all-conference team for the GCL-South. Three of the players on this list are playing at the next level with two of those players playing Division I.
All GCL-South Team:
Miles McBride- Moeller
2016-17 Stats: 10.5 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 2.5 APG
One of the better underclassmen in Southwest Ohio, the sophomore is the second leading scorer for the undefeated Crusaders. McBride ranked in the top five in the conference in assist, field goal percentage at 56.5% and steals at 1.8 per game.
CJ Fleming- La Salle
2016-17 Stats: 16.8 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 55.7% FG, 46.3% 3FG, 87.5% FT
Despite missing a little over 2 games with injury, Fleming turned in another stellar season. The Bellarmine commit lead the conference in scoring for the second straight season while also finishing in the top five in field goal percentage and steals. Fleming leads a Lancers squad that will most likely finish in the top five in the final polls for the Cincinnati area.
Keegan McDowell- Moeller
2016-17 Stats: 12.9 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 51.9 % FG, 38.9 % 3FG
The Liberty commit lead the 16th ranked team in the country in scoring at 12.9, which was good enough for 5th in the conference. One of the better all-around players in Southwest Ohio. Scored a season high 26 against Columbus Whitehall-Yearling in December.
Riley Voss- Moeller
2016-17 Stats: 8.2 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 3.0 APG, 1.6 SPG
While his numbers may not be eye-popping, Voss finished in the top five in the conference in assist, field goal percentage, steals, blocks and rebounds. Voss has the ability to play in the high post or slide down and play in the post as well. The Cornell commit plays with one of the highest basketball IQ’s you will find at the prep level.
Dashawn Mosley- Elder
2016-17 Stats: 13.6 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 1.4 BPG
Despite some injury issues, the Panther forward turned a very good season. The senior lead the conference in blocks and rebounds while finishing 4th in the conference in scoring. Mosley likes to do a lot of his damage from the free throw line on down, really effective at finishing around the rim.
