The Favorite
Four Winds/Minnnewaukan. Winning games by an average of 35 points a night. They had the one setback but are still a massive favorite.
Top Contenders
Bishop Ryan. I like they are on with seven in a row and playing very well. A couple of good wins lately.
Dickinson Trinity. We hold these guys in high regard, it’s just that their Region is going to be tough. Whomever gets through will have done a good thing. They haven’t lost in the region yet though.
HCV. Sure there is a bad loss in there but they the one team to beat Four Winds and if you have done that you can make a run.
Linton/HMB. It’s not just that they’ve won eight straight but it’s who they have beaten. They avenged a loss to Herried/Selby and then beat several of North Dakota’s best.
Solen. Maybe the hottest team in the state right now winning 14 in a row and nobody within the state has beat them yet. That Shiloh win grabbed attention.
Contenders
Beulah. Don’t sleep on them, they’ve had some really nice wins lately getting them to 15-3, playing well at the right time.
Carrington. A contender for the title? Not likely but they have a road they can surely navigate as nobody in their district should beat them. They could make state but get beat early there.
Kenmare. They are heavy favorites in district and the favorite to win region. Get that one game playoff win to state and they got it. It’s possible.
Northern Cass. Took a recent step back but they are right there, and will be right here.
Oak Grove. They’ve won seven straight and are looking like a legit threat. Best record within their tough Region.
Shiloh Christian. Tough slate will have them prepped but they’ve had some surprising losses. Need to get by Solen again to make a run.
Tough Road
Berthold. Only a four loss team but in a very tough district.
Des Lacs Burlington. Same as Berthold, both in 12 with Bishop Ryan.
Milnor/North Sargent. Sitting at 16=3 after a recent loss, but still someone to watch.
Mott-Regent. A notch below other top Region 7 squads and they are in a tough group.
Parshall. They can beat the teams in the district, but outside of the district they are just over .500.
Richland. The Colts are our sleeper! Six straight!
St. John. Only undefeated team in the state and they are starting to beat some good teams. How do they get down here? Same region as Four Winds.
Thompson. They aren’t giving people much reason to believe as of late although they have handled their Region business fairly well.
Not Likely
Grafton/St. Thomas. They just feel a step off from really making a run.
Heart River. The road looks too tough, they haven’t shown they can beat the best teams enough.
Hettinger/Scranton. They will have to win several tough games to get a chance at state. Too many actually.
New Rockford-Sheyenne. Sure they have Schaeffer but they are in the Four Winds district.
Stanley. Surprised they have only won two-thirds of their games which has been a surprise with what they have.
TLMM. Best team in District 10 but that’s where it ends.
Our Redeemer. The expectations were so high but the distict is
