Three players to watch
Stephon Hall 2018 Mount Saint Mary Point Guard
Stephon Hall is a dynamic guard with a lot of upside at the Point Guard spot. He handles the rock very well. Look for him to have a great weekend leading Mount Saint Mary’s to a deep run in the Area IV bracket. Hall holds an offer from Oklahoma Christian.
Kobe Burgess 2019 Ada Point Guard
Burgess has been tabbed as the best player in the 2019 Oklahoma class. He scores the ball very well in all three phases of the game. What separates Burgess is his toughness and hustle on both ends of the floor. He is a true two way player.
Mason Wiggins 2017 Roland Forward
Wiggins and Roland pulled off a big upset against Ada to set themselves up with a chance for state. Wiggins rebounds the ball very well at the Forward spot. Wiggins is an under the radar small college prospect in the Oklahoma 2017 class.
Predictions
Area Championship: Roland vs Castoosa
Roland takes this game against Catoosa with their teamwork leading them to victory. They have a tough line up to guard with a little size as well. Catoosa has shot the ball very well. This one will be close, but Roland gets the job done.
Consolation
Mount Saint Mary vs Checotah
Mount Saint Mary’s is the heavy favorite in this one with their deep talent level. Stephon Hall, Tony Elix and Nick Martinich make a tough trio to stop. Mount Saint Mary’s gets the victory.
Ada vs Byng
Ada suffered a surprising and tough loss to Roland in the Regional finals. Byng is outmatched talent wise and they will have to deal with an unhappy Ada team. Ada wins this one behind senior Ben Pruitt and sophomore Kobe Burgess.
Mount Saint Mary vs Ada
A game that is not for state, but to give the team who wins a chance to make the tournament. This will be a fun game between two talented teams. Ada has a tough duo in Pruitt and Burgess, both will need to be at the top of their games to win. Prep Hoops has Ada squeezing by a very good Mount Saint Mary’s team.
Consolation Final: Ada vs Catoosa
Catoosa has had a great season and is certainly under the radar team for most of the year. This game will be exciting, but favors Ada playing in front of their home fans. Ada makes it happen, three wins in three days. The Cougars go to state in Class 4A.
