Class 6A: Yukon vs Sand Springs- Norman North Regional
Yukon has one of the best players in all of Oklahoma in Cameron Martin in the post. Martin will look to lead his squad in a tough playoff stretch. Yukon will have their hands full with Colt Savage and Kyle Keener. Yukon will look to Jordan Williams a Seminole State commit and Vernon Turner an Oklahoma Track commit to have big games in the playoffs. If Yukon’s guards play well throughout the playoffs they could find themselves in the state tournament. This will be a huge game for Sand Springs who is probably a little better than their record on paper shows.
Class 5A: Edison vs Bishop McGuinness- Claremore Regional
Two teams that are legitimate contenders to make a run to get into the state tournament face off in a tough first round game. McGuinness is led by Mason Webb on the Wing. Stefone Richardson runs the show at Edison at the Point Guard spot. Both Webb and Richardson have gone overlooked this year. Which player has the better game? That will probably be the difference in this one.
Class 4A: Mannford vs Chickasha- Area III
Mannford got a huge victory over a talented Webster squad to set them up with a chance to face Chickasha. According to the final coaches rankings this would be a #20 Mannford vs #11 Chickasha. Mannford has a talented small guard in Jake Banfield. Chickasha is led by Brock Henderson, who is one of the best players in Class 4A that not many are aware of across the state.
Class 3A: Hennessy vs Riverside- Area I
This is a very intriguing matchup with #12 vs #9 that will shape the winning teams race to state and ultimately make it really tough for the losing team to find their way to state. Dalton Vinson is one of the top players the 2018 Oklahoma class that not enough people know about. Vinson is a beast in the paint with a long lanky build at 6’8. This one should be a fun one.
Class 2A: Warner vs Christian Heritage- Area II
Warner at 15-8 comes in as the underdog against Christian Heritage at top 15 team in Class 2A, but don’t be surprised if this one is close. Christian Heritage has had a good season. An early loss in the playoffs for either team will put them in bad shape as far as making the state tournament.
Prep Hoops will have playoff coverage all weekend long.
