The Basketball Interview: Jimmy Sotos
In our series The Basketball Interview we talk with one of the top players in the state of Illinois about a variety of topics both on and off the court. Today’s interview is with Conant 2017 point guard and Bucknell commit Jimmy Sotos.
What is your favorite opposing gym to play in?
“Barrington. I put up 30 there my freshman year. Last year I had a good game there. Something about the gym that I like there.”
Who is the best player you have played against?
“Trevon Duval. He was good. I knew about the hype. He is fast and athletic. He is the real deal.”
Who is your favorite player to play against?
“Probably Jacob Keller. We played Fenwick in the summer league. He is probably my favorite to play against. We are real close.”
Which is your favorite social media?
“I am a big Snap Chat guy. No evidence!”
What was your favorite part of the recruiting process?
“The attention. It gets overwhelming at times. It is nice when everyone says they want you and praise you.”
What was your least favorite part of the recruiting process?
“Attending to all the phone calls. I recently talked about it with my parents. You sit down for five minutes and get another phone call and then you would get another one.”
High School or Grassroots Circuit?
“AAU because I am real close with my teammates and the talent is higher.”
Who is your favorite NBA Player?
“Stephen Curry with the combination of handles and shot. Kyrie is starting to win my vote, but I am still a Steph guy.”
What team not on your schedule would you want to play?
“Fenwick because of Jacob Keller.”
Nike, Under Armour, or Adidas?
“Under Armour. I got coach to get us Under Armour this year.”
