Fort Wayne Wayne Sectional
This Sectional worked out really well. Both Huntington North and Homestead are the clear favorites heading into the week and they got split up on either side of the bracket. Huntington got the bye, Homestead didn’t but they drew Fort Wayne South as the first opponent and Wayne as the next up.
Lafayette Jeff Sectional
This Sectional is probably the best in the State with just how good all of these teams are. Logansport and McCutcheon got the byes and put on opposite sides of the bracket. Kokomo and Jeff seems like a pretty fair matchup and Harrison against Zionsville will be better than most think it should.
North Central Sectional
Really, this is good for everyone. Warren Central and North Central are on either side and both have a first round matchup that is tough but one they should get past. After that, you have Tech and Cathedral, easier matchups, waiting in the bye games. Then you could see the Warren Central/North Central rematch. Tough Sectional for sure but fairly balanced.
Seymour Sectional
With the Seymour Sectional, you got the two best teams in the Sectional on opposite sides in Floyd Central and New Albany. The next two best teams are also on the opposite sides in Jeffersonville and Jennings County. It makes for a great setup in the final where the rivals down south in Floyd Central and New Albany could meet up again for the second time.
Bellmont Sectional
This Sectional looks like it could have a ton of a swings in it as it is very balanced anyway and then you have the draw that made it even more interesting. Norwell and Bishop Luers are both on opposite sides as well as Mississinewa and Columbia City. Norwell has played these teams in their Sectional six times and is 3-3. That is kind of the parity we see throughout all of these teams.
Greencastle Sectional
While there is only one bye game in this Sectional, Tri-West is the most deserving team to get it. Outside of that, you put 14-win Crawfordsville on top and 12-win Lebanon on the bottom with the 6-8 win teams mixed in. It makes it fairly even with the potential for a rematch between Lebanon and Tri-West from earlier in the year when Lebanon got the W.
Oak Hill Sectional
While Lewis Cass got a nice draw, every good team in this Sectional got an easier first game. Southwood gets 8-win Northfield and Oak Hill gets 8-win Wabash while Cass gets 6-win Manchester. It is fairly balanced but this is a very good Sectional top to bottom.
Lapel Sectional
This is one of the best Sectionals in the state on a perennial basis and this year is no different. Last season, Lapel came out of this Sectional to win but now they have a ton more competition and it is spread out well. 15-win Frankton and 19-win Monroe Central are on the bottom half and 14-win Lapel and 15-win Wapahani are on the top half.
Eastern Greene Sectional
This Sectional is so balanced, it is almost a mirror image of itself. Opening round games are Barr-Reeve vs. Linton-Stockton with Eastern Green and South Knox on the opposite side. They all have between 13-20 wins. The two bye teams waiting for the winners have 6 and 7 wins each. One way or another, this will be a fun but fair Sectional.
University Sectional
This Sectional is really good. Every team has double-digit wins and the pairings are pretty solid. Bethesda and International start off the Sectional with Tindley and University finishing up the first day. School of the Deaf and Math & Science are both having good seasons and will await them in the second round.
