MVP | LUKA GARZA | MARET ‘17
Luka Garza was the most dominant player in this game, and it started early where he scored 14 of his game-high 26 points in the first half. The skilled 6’11 big man is a really good passer, and a smart defender.
BEST PLAY
Anthony Duruji turned a regular pass into a lob. The hyper-athletic 6’7 forward hung in the air for an extra second, and the crowd reacted as he slammed it home emphatically with one hand.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | ANTHONY DURUJI | SAES ‘17
Duruji scored 26 of his own points, and mixed it up really nicely as he hit shots from the perimeter and finished efficiently through contact. Duruji also crossed the 1000 point milestone in his last game at SAES.
BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | COBY DAVIS | MARET ‘17
All of Maret’s guards can defend, but Coby Davis might be the most solid defender of them all. The Wake Forest Football commit is super quick and athletic. Davis is a lockdown cornerback on the gridiron, but also anticipates the passing lanes well on the hardwood.
BEST UNDER-THE-RADAR PERFORMANCE | ELIJAH BOWENS | MARET ‘18
Elijah Bowens showcased a great deal of poise to go along with intriguing skill at the lead guard spot. Bowens scored 13 points, and dished out 6 assists. The reliable floor general is very deliberate, and rarely puts his team in bad situations offensively.
BEST GUY OFF THE BENCH | KAMARI WILLIAMS | SAES ‘19
There are a lot of things to like about 6’6 wing Kamari Williams. The long & lanky sophomore can do just about anything on the court. Williams led all bench scorers with 7 PTS.
BEST REBOUNDER | EJ JARVIS | MARET ‘19
EJ Jarvis continues to improve at a significant rate, but he’s always had a high motor. The 6’9 forward is filling out his frame, and adding considerable strength as he grows into his body. Jarvis displays solid box-out fundamentals, and can elevate and secure the ball at it’s highest point.
BEST INTANGIBLES | ELIJAH BOWENS | MARET ‘18
Elijah Bowens was rock solid in this contest. He never got rushed, and always knew the time and score. Bowens looked to get others involved first, but capitalized whenever he got an opportunity.
BEST CATCH AND SHOOT GUY | LUKE DOWNING | MARET ‘18
Luke Downing is a knock-down three point shooter, and we saw this as he hit three treys the first three quarters. The underrated defender moves well off the ball, and doesn’t need much time to get his shot off. Downing scored 13 points.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | EJ JARVIS | MARET ‘19
EJ Jarvis is a top 5 prospect regionally in 2019, and he continues to show plenty of upside to go along with his current production. Jarvis is a strong student, and it probably won’t be long before virtually every school in the country begins recruiting him.
