MVP | XAVIER JOHNSON | EHS ‘19
Xavier Johnson got it done on both ends of the floor in this one. The long & lanky floor general led his team in scoring, rebounding, and steals. He also hit 10 of 11 foul shots.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | GEORGE MAWANDA-KALEMA | EHS ‘17
George Mawanda-Kalema found a rhythm from the perimeter, and hit 7 of 14 from the field on his way to 20 points. The Brown commit is so good at creating space off the dribble for his shot.
BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | XAVIER JOHNSON | EHS ‘19
Johnson used his length and quickness to wreak havoc in the passing lanes. The energetic lead guard swiped a game-high four steals.
BEST UNDER-THE-RADAR PERFORMANCE | CHASE HILL | BI‘ 17
Chase Hill led Ireton is scoring, and looked good finishing around the basket in traffic. The unsigned 6’7 forward shot 5 of 6 from the field, and 3 of 4 from the line on his way to 13 points.
BEST REBOUNDER | XAVIER JOHNSON | EHS ‘19
Johnson pulled down a game-high 7 rebounds. He also did a great job pushing the pace, and kept his poise under pressure.
BEST INTANGIBLES | GEORGE MAWANDA-KALEMA | EHS ‘17
Kalema is clearly the leader of his team, and he played like it on both ends of the floor tonight. His defense is good evidence of that. Kalema swiped two steals, and pulled down four defensive rebounds.
BEST CATCH AND SHOOT GUY | ZACH PFAFFENBERGER | EHS ‘18
Zach Pfaffenberger possesses an intriguing blend of size to go along with a soft touch from the perimeter. The 6’8 forward hit 6 of 10 from the field, and 2 of 3 from the line on his way to 14 points.
BEST PASSER | STUART GREENSPON | EHS ‘17
Stuart Greenspon contributed to this win in many ways. He pulled down 6 rebounds, recorded a steal, and dished out a team high two assists. Greenspon displays a great work ethic to go along with a high basketball IQ.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | XAVIER JOHNSON | EHS ‘19
Johnson’s improvement in confidence and production from his freshman to sophomore year have been significant. He’s always been a reliable playmaker, and is now becoming a go-to scoring option.
BEST STORY TO WATCH MOVING FORWARD
Episcopal will travel to VA Top 30 No. 1 Paul VI tomorrow in a rematch of last year’s VISAA D1 State Championship. George Mawanda-Kalema went bonkers in that game, and PVI is surely out to make a statement.
