MVP | NATE WATSON | DJO ‘17
Nate Watson dove on the floor early in the first quarter to secure his team an early possession, and played an engaged brand of ball throughout. The Providence commit double-doubled while leading his team to an important win.
BEST PLAY
Matt Lewis pulled up and drilled a contested 3 point shot from the wing as time expired in the first half. These three points ultimately ended up being the difference in the game.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | RYAN ALLEN | DM ‘17
Ryan Allen was the game’s leading scorer with 20 points. The Delaware commit hit 3 of 7 from deep, but was also effective in the middle areas as well as the paint.
BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | XAVIER JOHNSON | DJO ‘18
Xavier Johnson recorded a game-high two steals. Johnson also took a charge late in the fourth quarter.
BEST UNDER-THE-RADAR PERFORMANCE | MATT LEWIS | DJO ‘17
JMU is getting a steal in Lewis. The 6’4 guard gets it done on both ends of the floor, and has continued to play at a high level for quite some time now.
BEST GUY OFF THE BENCH | JAY HEATH | DJO ‘19
Jay Heath had some nice moments off the bench. The skilled, well-built guard was a presence on the boards, and made a point to be a constant threat while in possession.
BEST REBOUNDER | NATE WATSON | DJO ‘17
Watson pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. The bruising 6’9 big man leads the WCAC in that category, and continues to add to his total.
BEST PASSER | MATT LEWIS | DJO ‘17
Lewis led the Knights in assists, and threw a sneaky no-look pass which resulted in two points. It’s quite clear that he has a nice feel for the game.
BEST CATCH AND SHOOT GUY | MATT BECHT | DJO ‘18
Matt Becht continues to impress with his confidence and consistency from long range. The junior hit two from downtown on his way to 8 points.
BEST INTANGIBLES | XAVIER JOHNSON | DJO ‘18
Johnson calmly hit two free throws with under 20 seconds left to help clinch the victory for his team. He’s certainly come a long way in what has been an impressive first full season as the Knights starting point guard.
