Tonight….Looks like many are easing their way back into things for the new year. Not the normal allotment of games and even less big games. Park Center looks to rebound from the Wayzata loss vs Brooklyn Center while Armstrong needs a win at St. Louis Park to bounce back from the Lakeville North defeat…New Life Academy hasn’t lost yet but they play Minnehaha Academy this evening in what looks like a big game…The game of the night is likely #2 ranked Wayzata against one loss Jefferson. The Joe Hird vs Gavin Baumgartner will be fun….Forest Lake/East Ridge is a sleeper of a strong game and Byron gets another shot to show that they can be good when they face Spring Grove…South Ridge at North Woods is the game of the night in the northeast while Fergus Falls at Alexandria takes the award in the northwest…..
Big Game on Wednesday…Osseo is at DeLaSalle. The Orioles have only lost once but they were beaten soundly by 19 against Park Center. They are blowing the rest of the schedule out but the rest of the schedule isn’t too scary. We can see how good Osseo is tomorrow. DeLaSalle is coming off South Dakota games where they were beaten badly by the top team in the nation (IMG Academy) and then stomped a Mitchell, South Dakota team that is likely the worst Class AA team in the state.
Rivalry Games Thursday. The WEM at NRHEG game will pack the gym as these teams have a lot on the line in this one…CDH is at Stillwater. The Ponies are struggling but with Daniel Oturo and Griffin Gamble both having played for Stillwater when they were younger some fire is there…BSM at Orono isn’t a rivalry as much as it is a section game but the importance is there…
Regular Saturday. Saturdays this season so far have been days for big events, or days of holidays. This Saturday is just a Saturday, but there are some games to watch. Need a good plan? Ok. I say go watch Stillwater/North St. Paul at 1pm taking in a section game and an up and coming prospect in Goodnews Kpegeol, cruise to East Ridge at Cretin-Derham Hall to see some excellent prospects from all classes (Daniel Oturo, Courtney Brown highlighting), and then finish the night with undefeated New Life Academy at St. Croix Lutheran.
Top Ten Games to See Friday. Friday is the full night to see basketball in Minnesota. Here is a good list of the best games to watching ranked 1 through 10.
- Mpls Henry at Mpls North. This is the city game we’ve been waiting for
- Cass Lake-Bena at Red Lake. Rivalry! Game 3 between them already
- Rosemount at Lakeville North. Loehrs vs Reuvers/Schermann
- Armstrong at Park Center. Great prospect watching.
- Charles at Caledonia. Two of Class AA Southern’s best
- Lake City at Lourdes. Both are good teams, top 10? We’ll see
- Ep at Chaska. Is EP a .500 team or are they going to make a run?
- Coon Rapids at Champlin Park. Okay Cards, here you go!
- Columbia Heights at Cooper. Agile talent in an up and down affair.
- Mankato East at JM. JM must bounce back from the Cooper loss.
