Game 1: Cambridge City Lincoln 69, Eminence 42
Game 2: Tri-West 63, Mishawaka Marian 61
Game 3: Northwood 62, FW Dwenger 58
Game 4: Lanesville 65, Orleans 62
Leading scorers: Tyler Watson 31 (Tri-West), Vincent Miranda 30 (Northwood), Chase Southerland 27 (CC Lincoln), Duncan Gerkin 23 (Orleans), Campbell Donovan 21 (FW Dwenger), Michael Hemingway 20 (M. Marian), Garrett Pumphrey 19 (CC Lincoln)
Leading rebounders: Garrett Pumphrey 23 (CC Lincoln), Peyton Hendershot 12 (Tri-West), Coley Quinn 10 (M. Marian)
MVP: Garrett Pumphrey (Cambridge City Lincoln)
Pumphrey was unbelievable against the smaller Eminence lineup. He finished with a tremendous stat line of 19 points, 23 rebounds, and nine blocks. He was one block from his sixth triple-double of the year. Pumphrey struggled a bit scoring the ball going just 8-15 from the floor but that didn’t matter because he did everything else so well especially rebounding the ball.
Best offensive performance: Vincent Miranda (Northwood)
Miranda scored 30 points and was on fire the whole game. He only took 14 shots from the floor and was 10/11 from the line. He scored the first nine points of the game and really set the tone early on. Miranda made the game winner with just under two minutes left as he drew the foul and then converted at the line.
Best clutch offensive performance: Tyler Watson (Tri-West)
Watson had 31 points in the game and was rather inefficient if you looked at it as a complete game, but Watson single handedly led Tri-West back into the game. He was 8/29 from the field but started out 2/12 from the field and was really struggling. He hit quite a few shots in a row in the fourth quarter and despite the tough showing he really played well when they needed him to.
Best defensive performance: Elijah Wilkin (Lanesville)
The 6’4 post played was solid inside for Lanesville. He had five blocks in the game and played well at the back of the 1-3-1 press. He hauled down a ton of defensive rebounds and was one of the two guys that really performed well in the last game.
Play of the day: Hunter Ferris slams it on Eminence
To add insult to injury, Hunter Ferris jammed it on two Eminence players and it really just showed how over matched Eminence was in this one.
Best underclassman: Hayden Smithey (FW Dwenger)
He had seven points and four rebounds as well as playing really solid defense. The 6’5 sophomore is as good as they come toughness wise and he really impressed today. Could have been a but more aggressive with the ball but nonetheless made an impact.
Best under-the-radar performance: Bo Mehringer (Eminence)
One of the biggest performances that went unnoticed was in the first game of the day for Eminence. Mehringer had 14 points and five assists in the game and was the main scorer for Eminence. He was a solid shooter but just never got it going despite leading his teams in points.
Best shooter: Chase Southerland (Cambridge City Lincoln)
Southerland scored 27 points and was shooting the ball really well from deep. He went 5/8 from behind the arc and was 6/8 from inside the arc. They kept feeding him and he kept making shots. It was a good performance from him.
Best rebounder: Garrett Pumphrey (Cambridge City Lincoln)
Anytime you have 23 rebounds it’s a great performance no matter who you play. Pumphrey had 12 at the half and added in 11 during the second half. A lot of the rebounds he had were off of his own blocks and offensive boards that he would then put back up. He has a great nose for the ball and we saw that today.
Best college potential: Conlan Martin (FW Dwenger)
It was a performance that Martin would like to forget as he only scored four points and only took four shots from the floor. He’s a small guard but he has a nice looking shot that you can tell that he can make from deep. Just really struggled in this one.
Best team today: Northwood got off to a slow start against Fort Wayne Dwenger but the #1 3A team rebounded for a clutch four point win over a much better Dwenger team than their record shows. The guard play for Northwood was great and their inside complimenting guys were good as well.
