SD Player of the Week: Jan 2-7
PHD brings you five more Player of The Week candidates after an excellent week of performances. Here’s the weeks best. Poll closes January 12th at 11:59pm.
Trevor Hanson- Sioux Valley
South Dakota State committed Trevor Hanson averaged a double-double in the Big East tournament. Had 24 points, 15 boards, and seven assists to beat undefeated Flandreau.
Mason Archambault- Rapid City Stevens
The Raiders picked up a huge road win at #1 ranked SF O’Gorman and Archambault led the way with 32 points. He then had a cool 18 the next night in a cruising win over Mitchell. The 32 vs O’Gorman was as clutch a performance as the state has seen this year.
John Witte- Wessington Springs
The junior guard led the Spartans with 26 points, nine boards, and five assists having a hand in nearly 75 percent of his team’s offense in beating Ethan by two points. The next night John’s team dropped a game to Colome but he hit six treys and scored 24 of his team’s 32 points.
Preston Kolbaum- Elk Point Jefferson
The junior guard gave the Huskies 26 points, six boards, four assists, and three steals in a win over Viborg-Hurley. The performance pushed Elk Point-Jefferson to a 5-2 record on the year.
Allan McDonnell- Wall
The Wall Eagles are 5-0 on the season and the 6-foot-3 senior is giving his club 26 points per game bringing consistency every contest. He had 24 in a win over Rapid City Christian and then a double-double of 18 and 12 in a win over Bennett County.
