The talented floor-general picked up his first two offers — both Division I — and got his recruitment rolling with several other programs.
Central Connecticut State became the first school to offer this past summer, and shortly after Grambling State became the second school to extend an offer.
Fisher says his Blue Devils offer stemmed from a New Orleans connection.
“One of their coaches (Anthony Anderson) was the coach at Lamar and he’s from New Orleans, and he had been following me and had seen me from 8th grade all the way to now,” said Fisher. “He saw me grow as a player, and I guess he felt the time was right for him to offer me.”
Fisher also mentioned Richmond, Lamar, Northwestern State, New Orleans and Texas State have been keeping in contact with him.
He mentioned one school in particular that has seemed most interested.
“Richmond has really been on me ever since the start of the season,” said Fisher. “They send me mail daily, and they’ve really been the ones on me, and seeing how I’m doing.”
But his recruitment is more of an afterthought right now – he’ll concern himself with it more this summer.
“Right now I’m not too worried about all that, I’m worried about winning in high school,” he said. “But this summer I’ll be focused on getting better, and when I get better everything will take care of itself.”
With his junior season starting to wind down, Fisher reflected on what his role has been this season.
“Last year I was the starting point guard, and my job was to get the two best players the ball. And this year I come off the bench as a sixth-man, to bring in scoring and energy, make plays and change the pace off the game,” said Fisher, who explained to PHLA what is is that makes him such a dynamic player.
“I’m just a basketball player. I think my strength is my skill-set and knowing the game, and I just do whatever my coach needs of me. I can rebound, defend, shoot, and I think I’m just an all-around player.”
