“I’m an athlete, focus on the defensive end,” said Njoku when asked to describe his game. “Always running back, always trying to help my teammates, always focused on the task at hand.”
Njoku has helped lead St. John’s, the defending WCAC Champions, to a strong 15-5 start. Njoku understands that while he may not asked to score, what he does in almost every other area is instrumental to his team’s success.
“How much I hustle,” replied Njoku when asked to describe what he thinks is overlooked about his game. “If you look at the games that we play, it’s not the plays on the offensive end. It’s always that one extra play that you always have to work on.”
Njoku is very adept at using his length. He shrewdly stretches his arms to alter and block shots, and has also demonstrated improved moves in the low post.
“Shooting most definitely, and my ball control as I’m getting to the basket,” said Njoku when asked what he is focusing on improving.
A strong student who boasts an excellent 3.8 GPA, Binghamton, Bucknell, St. Thomas Aquinas, JMU, and Navy are among the handful of schools involved in Njoku’s recruitment. What can a coach who is interested in recruiting Njoku expect him to bring to a college program?
“I think my hustle will be most definitely what I’ll be able to bring. Always willing to work harder on my game on the defensive end and willing to put my body on the line.”
