The 6-foot-8 McKoy has helped lead Panther Creek High School to a 11-9 record so far this season while attracting college basketball programs from all over the region. The sophomore is averaging 20.4 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game. 10 double doubles this season, while shooting 53.8% from 3PT (63 made 3PT).
Extremely long, McKoy is a defensive presence with his ability to alter shot selection. He uses his long arms to block shots and give the offense fits when he is in the lane.
He can run the floor for a big man, he can finish with either hand at the rim. He has a great feel for the game, he has a high basketball IQ, and he is very athletic. He has a strong upper body and has good footwork. What is also impressive is his ability to knock down shots past the three-point line. He can catch and shoot the long ball or spot up and still knock it down. He has a great sense of awareness when the defense shows a double-team, he can easily find the open man. He is quick off of his feet and keeos the ball high when he grabs a loose ball in the paint.
McKoy’s Recruitment
Even though it is early in his recruitment, McKoy has heard from NC State, Wake Forest, Clemson, Richmond, Davidson, College of Charleston, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Liberty, Charlotte and George Mason. He has already visited NC State on an unofficial visit back in October.
The talented wing played over the summer with Team CP3 on the Nike circuit. He is one of the most versatile players on Team CP3 this summer and can guard multiple positions. He is going to be a player to track over this summer and possibly turn into a high-major prospect with his size and skill-set.
