Easily the most athletic kid in the state and maybe in the midwest, Adaway is turning heads with some of the dunks he’s throwing down but recently, his shooting has really improved.
So far he has 11 offers with his most recent coming from Valparaiso. He has been on multiple campuses but has only one official visit so far to Indiana State. With no visits set in stone for the future, Adaway’s recruitment is still very much open.
“They like that I am a freak athlete and that I play great defense. They also like how I can finish above people at the rim.”
Running this summer with UA Indy Hoosiers Adaway was exposed to some of the top coaches in the country. His team was stacked with the likes of Kris Wilkes (UCLA), Cooper Neese (Butler) and Paul Scruggs (Xavier). This really helped his exposure but Adaway felt like coaches could have seen more from him.
“We played really well and had a great summer but individually I felt like there was a lot I didn’t get to show. I am trying to do that with my high school season and hopefully commit to a school by the end of the school year.”
During the summer Adaway had three main things he worked on and if you watch him during the school season you can really see the improvements that he made to his game. He worked on his ball handling to be better prepared to play a guard role at the next level and also finishing at the rim. Adaway also worked on getting stronger to be better prepared.
At the next level, Adaway has choices and he can weigh the pros and cons of each school before making a decision because they are so many schools interested with many more offers to come.
“First and foremost I want to go to a really good academic university because studies are the most important thing. Team wise I want to play on a team where everyone is close with each other and a great coaching staff that likes to play up and down because I am really athletic and like to play quick.”
