And though he has two offers from Southeast Missouri State and North Dakota, there’s a chance that Bijiek might take the prep school route.
“Hopefully more offers come in soon. I’m strongly considering going to prep school for a year to become stronger and expand my options,” said Bijiek.
“I’m most likely going to take an official visit to Southeast Missouri, that’s the only one I have planned at the moment.”
Bijiek is not in any hurry to make his college decision, and says he’s waiting to find the perfect match. And again mentioned the prep school option when asked.
“My timetable is very open at the moment. I just want to make sure I end up in the perfect situation where I can become a great student, and get a great education and become a better person,” said Bijiek. “I haven’t found that place yet and I’m very open to prep school, and very optimistic.”
As Bijiek continues to diversify his game, he says his evolution as a shooting guard is what he’s most proud of.
“Since last spring I have become a better and more efficient scorer; taking less shots but averaging more points. And I’ve improved my free-throw shooting by 25 percent,” said Bijiek, who has helped North to a 9-5 start.
“North has been great, but I’ve been hurt most of the year and been playing through injury so my productivity is just now increasing. We had a rocky start, but through Coach (Chad) Ryan’s strong leadership we’ve gotten back on track, and we’re becoming a better team each and everyday.”
Bijiek says he’ll continue to sharpen and hone his shooting guard skills – that’s where he wants play in college.
“People don’t know that I’m more of a shooting guard, but being 6-foot-7 I’m forced to play more like a big-man in high school,” said Bijiek. “I’m still trying to become stronger, a more skilled player and better ball-handler. At next level I plan on playing a two guard.”
