“I am excited to see how far we can go as a team,” Masiulionis said. “The expectations are high but we need to take it step-by-step and focus. It will take the whole team to reach our goal.”
Masiulionis is sought after by many high academic schools including Babson, Case Western, Dickinson, Earlham, Franklin and Marshall, Marietta, MIT, and Washington and Lee. He has visited Washington and Lee and doesn’t have any other visits planned at this time but his recruitment is still wide open. He doesn’t hold any offers yet but is looking to go to a school where he could study Physics or Astronomy but would love to attend a school that offers Astrophysics.
This year Masiulionis has improved in ways that casual fans can’t notice. His defense is better and he is becoming more efficient as his high school career moves forward. His attitude is what separates him from other players on the court.
“Last year I was the player they ran all the plays for,” Masiulionis said. “However, this year we have had a lot more depth which leads me to receiving less playing minutes and shots. It was really hard in the beginning but I learned how to approach it. I average less points but I do it in a lesser amount of shots. My rebounding and defensive ability has allowed me to impact the game in ways I could not do last year.”
Masiulionis is one of the better defenders in the state and he is usually matched up on the best player on the other team due to his athletic ability. He can regularly hold his own in the matchup and most of the time held his man to under their season average in points.
Masiulionis wants to go to a school with his intended major which cuts down the list a bit but he still is excited about the process to come and as of right now, MIT is at the very top of his list if he is accepted.
“A good science, in particular an Astronomy program would be perfect for my future school,” Masiulionis said. “On that note, some kind of observatory becomes a necessity. I also prefer smaller schools”
