“I’m an aggressive point guard. I have a high IQ,” Hammond stated when asked to describe his game. “I can shoot the ball well. I just try to play defense, create for my teammates. Play smart, be aggressive while scoring the basketball.”
Hammond is the leading scorer for St. Vincent Pallotti, at over 16 points per game. One thing that has really stood out about Hammond’s play so far this season has been his defense.
“I think either my ball handling or my defense,” said Hammond about the most underrated aspects of his game. “People don’t realize that I can guard 1 through 3 and do a good job.”
Hammond has really worked hard on his athleticism and ball handling, and that has also been evident with his recent play. Cansisus, Quinnipiac, and Siena are among the schools who have been involved with Hammond, who owns a 3.2 GPA and a high SAT score.
What can coaches who are recruiting Hammond expect him to bring to their program?
“A kid who woks hard, can score the ball, can defend and is all about winning.”
