“I would say I’m more like a defensive player,” said Haggler, who’s been playing competitive basketball for just four years. “I help more on defense. I don’t care about offense very much because I know once I play defense the offense will come.”
Some of Hagglers best games this year have come against top level competition. He recorded 15 points, 13 boards and a block in Middleburg’s early season win over Cape Henry, considered a top 25 team in the state.
“I love talking to my teammates. Trying to keep everyone going,” said Haggler about his most improved quality. “It doesn’t matter who we play, we try to play hard all the time.”
Haggler, who is averaging 15 points and 14 rebounds per game this year, has received scholarship offers from Saint Peter’s, UMass Lowell, Millersville, and Goldie Beacon. One thing Haggler has worked really hard to improved is his footwork. While his consistency in the low post is still a work in progress, Haggler is quite clearly prepared to contribute in other areas immediately at the next level.
What can coaches who are recruiting this hard-working, high potential big man expect him to bring to their program?
“I would like to give them what they don’t have. Mostly give them by best.”
