The 6-foot guard is off to a fantastic start to his season, and there’s been some initial Division III and NAIA interest starting to trickle in.
“I’ve gotten some letters from Briar Cliff, and Central has sent some letters. It’s been a little bit since they sent me stuff though,” said Boothe.
“It’s (recruitment) has been on my mind a lot, I’ve always wanted to play at the next level. I’m just working to get my name out there, and for coaches to see me and hopefully everything will work out.”
Boothe has been identified by us as a college prospect ever since his freshman season, when he was a reserve for the Cardinals’ varsity.
He was a budding prospect then, and it seems now he’s emerged as a player that could be one of the best in 2A for the next two years.
“We lost Peyton Pederson (to graduation), he was a huge part of our team last year, and whenever we needed a big shot we always looked to him and I’ve kind of taken that role this season,” said Boothe, who’s averaging 19 points per game this season.
“Scoring is one of the bigger things I’ve taken on. And then just getting the guys going, getting the ball moving, and being a vocal leader on and off the court and stuff like that.”
Boothe’s successes this season have come from hard work and dedication to his craft.
“I’m always working on shooting in my free time, but I’ve really worked on my passing and developing my body so I can play better against bigger guys and stuff like that,” he said.
“Personally, this season I’d like to average 20 points and get a few double-doubles, and maybe even some triple-doubles. I like to challenge myself a little bit.”
