In a key team victory, Billy Jordan helped propel Desert Ridge High over school rival Mountain Pointe. In the first half, neither teams were able to find their groove offensively. But Billy’s key buckets in the third quarter sparked a comeback that would lead to their first league victory. Desert Ridge currently sits at 10-6- with high hopes of making a postseason run this season.
At, 6’7, Billy Jordan is a talented two-way college prospect. His game looks crisp- playing with patience and maturity. Ranked by Prep Hoops at No. 30, Billy displayed why he is among the top players in the class of 2017. He has athleticism that is college-level, showing quick hands and a soft touch on the ball. He’s what you call a quiet baller, equipped with strong fundamentals and the talent to make noise in crucial moments.
Billy plays with a winning mindset- setting hard screens, scrapping after loose balls, and crashing the board for offensive rebounds. He poses a mismatch for many players at the guard position, with his ability to knock down three’s or kiss it off the glass from five feet. No need to worry about costly errors that lead to turnovers, Billy performs with a high player efficiency. Defensively, he brings height and length to the floor. Not the quickest on the court, his smart play and hustle mentality make up for it. Combine that with his scoring ability, and you get a player ready to transition to the next level.
Currently, Billy has received offers from California State, San Bernardino and also Mesa Community College. Letters of interest include Utah State, Knox College, Greenville College, and California Lutheran University. Concerning his future, Billy told Prep Hoops what he hopes to find in a team.
“Nothing really in specific. I’m just looking to play for a program with a good group of guys and good coaches.”
Right now Billy is leaning towards playing ball at Mesa Community College, where he plans to polish his skill set and determine his future from there. His main focus remains on getting his team to this year’s postseason. An opportunity set for Billy to make some noise.
