The team is struggling but the 6’4 guard certainly isn’t as he’s scoring 21.2 points a game. This year his athleticism as well as his court awareness is really improved and being from such a small school, he is really flying under the radar.
Webster went down to Atlanta this past summer to work on his game with his uncle so coaches in Indiana didn’t see him this summer. Webster believes that it was the right move and that he really improved on parts of his game that will set him up well for the future at the next level.
“It was great. I was working down there with my uncle getting better and running every day. I was getting better as he was trying to build me up to come back up here and try to win a state championship. It went great because I improved a lot as a basketball player and got to know the game as a whole a lot better.”
One of the most important things that Webster has improved on is his court awareness and continuing to work on that will help him prosper as a basketball player.
“The main thing that my uncle tried to get across to me was to see all ten players on the court. If you can do that you become a better basketball player as a whole. You know where everyone is at and you’re not panicking. You can be patient with the ball and I have been trying work on it because it’s hard to see all ten players and know where they are at and what their tendencies are.”
So far this year the only school that has checked in with Webster is Adrian College from Michigan. Webster hasn’t visited any other schools but is still open to any school. He hopes that with a strong push in the tournament his stock will rise, and thus more schools contacts him. Webster is looking for a few things in a future school.
“I am looking for a great academic school and somewhere that I can feel at home and be cool with the players. I want to feel at home and not go somewhere I don’t have fun or feel at home.”
