This is why King has multiple offers from low major programs who think that he can come in and fill up the stat sheet for them. His ability to stretch out the defense and the combination of being able to shoot well from behind the arc and make his free throws is enticing to D1 coaches.
King is shooting 51 percent from behind the arc and 83 percent from the charity stripe. His shooting percentage from the floor is actually a very good 57 percent. King is averaging 19.5 points a game and is ranked 54th in the nation on points per 32 minutes.
This scoring combined with his versatility and his ability to rebound the ball has produced a couple offers from a few low major schools along with others reaching out with interest. King has visited both Army and Navy, which have both offered him, but he doesn’t have any visits planned anywhere else at this time.
One of the biggest things that King is able to do this year well that he struggled with at times last year is his ability to get to the rim and finish. He worked on his strength over the summer and he has really seen that help him get to the rim.
“(I have improved) playing stronger and getting to the rim,” King said. “Coaches like my versatility as a scorer, my length and athleticism, my ability to rebound and play point guard, and also my ball handling as a 6’8 guy.”
Columbus North got off to an up-and-down start to the season thus far. Starting out 5-1 they dropped their next five but followed that up with a five game win streak to now stand at 10-6 on the year and give them a bit of momentum into the postseason.
“I want to finish the season out strong and hopefully win a sectional title,” King said.
For King, in college he wants to study biology or cyber security and has a few key things that he is looking for in a future school.
“I want a great academic school,” King said. “I want to play solid time as a freshman, be with a group of guys I really enjoy being around and a nice campus.”
