Mason Archambault of RC Stevens. Rapid City Stevens is 8-3 and a legit title contender. Mason is coming off recent games where he had a near double-double in a beating of Sturgis, knocked out four treys and made all his attempts in scoring 32 against Douglas, and had 16 in a recent loss to O’Gorman.
Tayton Vincent of Sioux Valley. The recent headliner was the 24 points, nine assists, and six steals in a win over Chester Area. Also this month Vincent has set his school’s all time assist record helping his team to a 12-2 record. He had 21 points in a win over De Smet and in the incredible game with St. Thomas More (a one point buzzer beating loss), Vincent was the game high scorer with 22 points including six three-point makes, five boards, and four assists.
Matt Cartwright of SF O’Gorman. O’Gorman avenged their only loss in South Dakota this year recently beating RC Stevens by six. Matt is working hard to get back into the discussion as Player of the Year, Mr. Basketball, etc. His team is 10-3 and Matt scored 17 for the game including a huge late three. Matt also scored the big 21 against Washington, had 24 in a blowout over Yankton, and then scored 18 beating RC Central 48-30.

Ethan Freidel of Tea Area. Ethan is right back in the thick of things having won five straight games to boost their record to 9-2. Ehtan recently surpassed the 1,000 point mark for his career. His 19 points and three assists helped the Titans beat Roncalli 71-53 plus he scored 19 in beating Garretson. Ethan also recently committed to Briar Cliff.
Potential Contenders
Isaac Kortemeyer of St. Thomas More. The future SD School of Mines big has been on a roll as of late. He scored 24 points including 12 of 14 shooting in a recent win over Spearfish and had 21 points with eight boards in that Sioux Valley win. The Cavs have won 9 of 10 and have a 10-2 record.
Cooper Williams of Vermillion. Cooper and junior teammate AJ Plitzuweit have made one of the best 1-2 combos in the state this year. The Tanagers are 11-1 and Cooper had 20 in a recent win over Elk Point Jefferson.
Bennett White of Wolsey-Wessington. Scoring 19 a game with nearly 13 rebounds and five steals a game for a 9-1 team that is among the best in Class B.
Also
Seth Freisz of Chamberlain. The Cubs have lost once all year and are starting to pick up some big wins. This former all state player and former area player of the year is right in the thick of things again.
Sam Arend of Bridgewater/Emery. Scoring a dozen a game with six boards on a balanced team that is ranked number one in Class A.
Jarett Jenson of Harding County. The 6-foot-2 strong forward has his team at 7-3 and he’s putting up 24.6 points and 12.6 rebounds a game. Hard to overlook those totals.
Dejay Fyskstra of SF Christian. The all around talent scored 14 in a recent win over Vermilion giving them their first loss of the year. He also had 12 and 6 in a loss to Madison.
