According to MaxPreps.com, the junior is averaging 11.9 points, 4.4 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game — that still doesn’t meet his expectations for himself.
“I’m playing OK, but I’m not satisfied with how I’ve been playing . I think I can do better,” said Johnson.
A self-described “playmaker,” Johnson defined what it is that makes him such a threat each night out for opponents.
“I’m an aggressive playmaker and a good defender,” said Johnson. “My role on the team is to defend at a high level and to score. And also to make my team better and take control of the tempo of the game.”
Though his recruitment has not started yet, he’s hoping to have a nice end to his junior season, and then a big 17U summer on the grassroots circuit.
“I hope I get a D1 college that wants me so I can continue my basketball career,” said Johnson.
But his immediate goal is more oriented towards his team.
‘My goal is to make it to the state tournament,” he said. “And to win a ring for my school.”
