The Okeechobee senior is averaging 21.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.1 steals per game for the Brahmans (12-3).
In his first varsity season, a year ago, Ferrol came on in a big way with averages of 18.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.
At 6’4″, 190 lbs., he’s able to get up and use pure athleticism to his advantage. Ferrol has reached the double-digit mark in all but one game which includes one 30 point game and seven 20 point outings.
January has been kind to him, as he’s scored 18, 25 and 26 points in three straight wins. He had this to say about this season.
“We have one goal and that is to win states,” Ferrol said. “It might look like that is far fetched but we actually got the talent, the program, and everything we need to get there.”
Here’s how Ferrol breaks down his own game.
“I bring a lot to the table for my team being able to play the 1-to-5 on this level of basketball and do what I got to do,” he said. “I have one primary job and that’s to score and take us over that one hump we need to get over. If we need a basket I’m going to go get it for you.
He’s seen his ball handling improve this season and he says that is important because at the next level he’ll have to do that playing guard.
Currently, Ferrol has no offers, but he’s drawn interest from Wright State and Davis & Elkins.
In Class 7A-4, he has his group sitting in third place behind only Heritage and Jensen Beach. Along with fellow senior Demetrius Clark (19.4) and his younger brother sophomore J-Quan Ferrol (10.5), Okeechobee has three reliable scorers.
Look for Shaquoy to put the team on his back even more as the season rolls on. He’ll get a chance to play somewhere at the next level. This kid is determined and hungry to show off his abilities.
