The versatile senior guard, who started playing grassroots basketball in second grade, understands that his offensive production will be key to his team’s success.
“Normally I’ve been a defensive stopper in the past. This year I’ve had to come out and try to score the ball a little bit more,” said Miller about his role at W&L. “Normally I take charges, hustle, and get on the floor.”
Miller posted a 4.3 GPA in his first quarter back at Washington-Lee. In his time at Gonzaga, Miller gained a ton of confidence in his offensive game, specifically in his shooting ability.
“I used to be more hesitant and not really confident in it,” Miller said of his jumper. “The two years at Gonzaga really helped me become more confident in my jumper.”
While his recruitment remains in it’s infancy for basketball, a host of division three programs are currently seeking Miller’s services for football, where the 190-pounder has lined up as a wide receiver, safety, corner, linebacker, or defensive end. Miller plans to decide which sport to pursue after the season.
“When people see me they don’t rally think that I would be abel to guard the most athletic kids,” said Miller about his underrated athleticism. “But I’m quicker than I look.”
Finishing in the paint, and cardio are two areas of improvement that Miller cited in his game. What can coaches who are recruiting Miller expect him to bring to their program?
“I can bring that hustle, and that defense that teams usually look for. I can definitely guard some people.”
