Due to his excellent court vision and shooting touch, Kam can play either guard spots for Fairmont. His ability to drive strong to the basket and lure the defense in, then kick the ball to open teammates, is one of his most impressive skills and makes me believe he will play point guard at the next level.
These qualities are just a few of the things Kam has improved on since practices began in November. He also has improved by “being more of an all-around player and being able to affect the game in more ways than just scoring”.
Don’t just take Kam’s word though. His statistics show this improvement as well. His rebounding, assist, and steals numbers have been increasing since early in the season.
When I asked Kam what he wants to improve before the OHSAA tournament starts, he said, “I’d like to improve my consistency on my jump shot”.
Again, Kam’s statistics show this too is improving. In his last game against Sidney, Kam had a team high 20 points while shooting near 50% from the floor. Before this game, he was following a similar trend, especially since the team played in the KSA tournament at the ESPN complex in Florida. Kam credits this tournament to be the most memorable moment this year for him, and you can see why. He averaged 13.3 points per game during the 3 games there and his three point shooting was at 50% for the tournament.
The scary thing besides Kam’s stats showing he is becoming more and more of a scoring threat, is he is not receiving any interest from colleges yet. As the second half of the season continues, and more schools get an opportunity to see Kam play, someone will take a chance with this young shooter.
