A versatile 6’1 guard, While has the ability to do a lot of different things, including scoring inside and out, handling the ball and creating plays for himself and others.
He spent the summer competing for nationally recognized KC Run GMC 15U squad and said he was mostly focused on helping his team win and improving his own skills through, “Playing really good competition and learning from the best coaches around.”
Washburn is off to one of its best starts in recent years as the squad is currently 8-3 start this season. White is currently among the team leaders in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals.
“It’s the first time we’ve had eight wins in four years,” White said. “And just we’ve done well to buy in to the coach and work hard to make Washburn Rural successive again. Individually I’ve made a bid step up from last year scoring wise but I pride myself being able to help my team in every way.”
White said he is looking forward to playing Topeka Hayden and Run GMC 2019 teammate Zach Harvey on Feb. 10 in Topeka.
“I’m good friends with (Harvey) and he’s an amazing player and just fun to compete against someone that good especially when you’re friends just to have that rivalry and have bragging rights over the other for the whole summer when we play together,” White said.
Jordan White said the biggest influence on his basketball career has been his older brother Brayden White, a senior on the Washburn Rural team.
“I’ve played with him in the backyard all my life and he’s pushed me all my life to be better and always keeps me humble,” White said. “But he really got me into basketball and continues to push me to get better.”
White said his favorite player to watch is another Run GMC teammate, Bishop Miege 6’8 2019 forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl.
“He’s just been my biggest role model and fun player to watch because he’s a really good player to but the way he goes out and competes, wants to win, makes his teammates better, he just plays the game the right way,” White said.
The recruiting process is still in its infancy for White, who has so far received a letter from Navy, but otherwise has not drawn a lot of recruiting interest just yet.
“Hopefully this summer I’ll start kind of figuring out where I am and starting to take visits here this summer and next school year,” he said.
