The third-year varsity starter is averaging a team-high 15.4 points per game along with 5.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.4 steals per game for Strawberry Crest (11-8). The previous two seasons, he averaged over 10 points per game for the Chargers.
At 6’3″, 170 lbs., White can maneuver inside and distribute the ball around nicely.
This is what he had to say about his season so far.
“This has been a major step forward for both myself and my team as a whole,” White said. “For such a young team, my teammates display incredible production on a nightly basis and I can’t thank them enough for all that they do to help us win games. As the leader of the team, I constantly remind our guys of the ultimate goal: to win a district championship. In order to do that, I think that I can personally work on my court vision to increase my assist numbers and further involve my teammates.
“I feel that my clock management, vocal leadership and shooting percentages have improved since last year and the sky is the limit for our squad when we put everything together for four quarters.”
No offers have come for White yet, but he’s earning high interest from Division-I Lafayette and Division-II programs Eckerd and the University of Sciences. He also drew interest last year from Cornell and Alabama-Huntsville.
“I feel that I could be a good fit at a Division-I or Division-II school because of my versatility, athleticism and my work ethic,” White said.
Last week, I saw White scored 11 points in a win over East Bay. All of his points came in the first half while adding five rebounds, four assists and three steals as well. White is a really crafty passer who led this offense with ease. In the blowout win, he saw more rest than usual, but he shined when on the floor. He would be a nice find for a Division-I or Division-II program.
